Jerry Barrera

Since being admitted to practice law in 2016, Jerry has acquired a wide range of experience and knowledge in the area of Immigration and Nationality Law. He has successfully represented hundreds of clients from all over the world before the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), the U.S. Department of State (DOS), and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Specifically, he has helped clients obtain legal permanent residence (“green cards”), waivers of inadmissibility, nonimmigrant and immigrant visas, cancellation of removal, deferred action, travel permits, TPS, EADs/work permits, citizenship/naturalization, among other immigration benefits.

Having been raised in a diverse community, Jerry has always enjoyed interacting, communicating, and connecting with people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Being an immigration attorney allows him to not only continue to interact with people from different parts of the world, but also represent them.

Jerry received his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2016, where he was on the Dean’s List. During law school, he excelled in his immigration law class. He also interned at the Chicago Legal Clinic, assisting applicants file petitions for immigration benefits with the Department of Homeland Security. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Benedictine University, where he double majored in Political Science and Philosophy and graduated with magna cum laude honors. He was also a member of the Benedictine University Baseball and Mock Trial teams.

Jerry is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois. He is a member of the Lake County Bar
Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). He is fluent in Spanish.
